Artis Leon Ivey Jr., commonly known as Coolio is a Grammy Award winning rapper, musician, record producer and actor. He was born in August 1, 1963. The Gangsta’s Paradise singer has a couple of legal violations. He was even placed in the same prison as his son, Grtis Ivey.

In 2009, while going through the airport security for his flight, he was detected to be carrying crack cocaine. The drug was supposedly found on his body. The rapper and reality television star was booked for cocaine possession. LAPD did not give any specifics on the allegations or whether the rapper was caught in the possession of cocaine or not.

In 2012, Coolio was arrested in Las Vegas because of two bench warrants of arrest. He was arrested after a traffic violation. Thereafter, the arresting officers discovered active warrants for his arrest after they ran his name through the system. He was then placed inside a Nevada jail, the same one where his son was being held. His 22-year-old son was arrested back in 2011 for armed robbery and grand larceny amongst other crimes.

Coolio is active in charity works. He was a spokesperson for Environmental Justice and Climate Change during 2008 together with Jarez, a jazz saxophonist. They spoke to students regarding global warming. As an asthmatic, Coolio and his children know how difficult the condition can be. Thus, he became a spokesperson for the group Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. He represented the organization Music Saves Lives in Rachael vs. Guy, a reality TV series. He won 10,000 USD for second place in the competition.

Apart from being a musician, Coolio also appeared in various movies and television shows. The most recent was mentioned above which is Rachael vs. Guy and also Ghetto Hoes: Bitchez ‘N The Hood 2.
