Domestic Violence

Axl Rose was born on February 6, 1962 in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born with the name William Bruce Rose, Jr. However, he was raised with the name William Bruce Bailey when his mother remarried Stephen L. Bailey, after his father abandoned them when he was only 2 years old.

This American singer-songwriter is the lead vocalist and only remaining original member of the band Guns N’ Roses . His love for music began at an early age. He sang for the church choir when he was 5 years old and participated in the school chorus when he studied at Jefferson High School. Eventually, he formed a band named Hollywood Rose with his friend, Jeff Isbell, who will be later known as Izzy Stradlin. In 1985, Axl and his former band mate, Tracii Guns, merged their bands together forming Guns N’ Roses.

In 1982, he dated his fellow Lafayette, Indiana native, Gina Siler. They separated in 1985. A year after, he began a relationship with the daughter of Don Everly from the Everly Brothers , model Erin Everly. They were married on April 28, 1990 but got annulled in January 1991. In that same year, he started a relationship with supermodel Stephanie Seymour. They were engaged in February 1993 but separated after just three weeks.

Axl was himself involved in a number of domestic abuse cases. In August 1993, he filed a case against Seymour after she was “kicking and grabbing” him at a Christmas party at home. He also claimed that she refused to return $100,000 worth of jewelry he gave her as gifts. She filed counter charges against him in October. Erin Everly was subpoenaed to testify in Seymour’s case. In March 1994, Erin also filed her own lawsuit against Axl for domestic violence. While the cases of the two women were ongoing, Siler also came out in the media to report her experience of domestic violence with Rose. Everly’s case was settled out of court with Rose agreeing to pay her an amount of $400,000.
