American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter, George Timothy Clooney, was born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky . His mother was a former beauty pageant queen, Nina Warren and his father a former anchorman, game show and American Movie host, Nick Clooney. He began his schooling in  Fort Mitchell, Kentucky . When he was in Ohio where he spent a part of his childhood, he went to school at St. Michael’s School in Columbus and St. Susana School in Mason.

Unknown to many, he developed Bell’s Palsy when he was in middle school. It caused partial paralysis to his face. Fortunately, it went away within a year. He earned all A's and a B and played baseball and basketball while attending Augusta High School. He went to get a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northern Kentucky University from 1979 to 1981 but failed to earn it. He used to hold odd jobs like selling men’s suits and cutting tobacco.

Clooney made his acting debut on television, where he played the role of Dr. Douglas Roug in the medical drama ER. This stint later brought offers for leading roles in the movies Batman & Robin and Out of Sight. He has earned three Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award. He was once married to actress, Talia Balsam in 1989 until they divorced in 1993. He was featured in 1997 and 2006 as People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive”.

George is also known to be a political activist. Since January 31, 2008, he has been serving as one of the United Nations Messengers of Peace. He also does humanitarian work like raising funds for the victims of 9/11, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and the 2004 Tsunami. He was involved in the documentary Sand and Sorrow to raise awareness about the global crises. Together with Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and other Hollywood actors, he is involved in an organization focusing on stopping and preventing mass atrocities called Not On Our Watch Project.

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, an advocate of the Dafur conflict resolution, and a supporter of gay rights. Because of his dedication to raising awareness about international conflicts, he was arrested in Sudan for protesting against the country’s government. They accused the Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir of provoking a humanitarian crisis by blocking food and aid which entered from the Nuba Mountains .  He was arrested together with his father, Nick Clooney.
