Born as Mayte Michelle Rodriguez on July 12, 1978. The American actress first gained recognition from her role in the film Girlfight in the year 2000. She is known to many as a star who plays "tough girl" roles.

The S.W.A.T actress has been caught in numerous legal issues, most of them are related to DUI or driving under the influence of alcohol. In the year 2002, she was arrested for allegedly assaulting her roommate during a fight. The case was dropped since her roommate refused to press the matter further.

By year 2003, she faced a total of 8 misdemeanor charges because of 2 driving cases involving DUI and a hit and run. The actress plead no contest in 2004, she spent two days in prison and completed community service at two morgues in New York. She also had to complete an alcohol rehab program for three months.

While shooting for Lost in the year 2005 in the state of Hawaii, Rodriguez was pulled over numerous times for driving too fast. Michelle was fined 357USD for driving 140 km per hour in Oahu. She was arrested once again for DUI in December of the same year. Though Michelle claimed that she was not guilty during the arraignment, she changed her statement in 2006 during the trial, pleading guilty to one charge of DUI.

The actress paid a fine of 500USD and since she also violated her probation, she was sentenced to community service for thirty days plus thirty more days of alcohol rehab. By the year 2007, she was alleged to have violated her probation for not completing the community service. She was again sentenced to 180 days in prison but was later released, due to overcrowding.
